Deception 2:


This is similar to the other deception game I posted earlier but is played with two players instead of a group, it is similar to guess who? but can be played with a standard deck of cards.

Setup: Each player draws a card and looks at it, without revealing it to the other player.

Turn: One player asks the other a question about their card, the other player will either lie or tell the truth. If the asking player, guesses correctly if they were lying or telling the truth, they can keep asking more questions. If the asking player is incorrect, the other player now gets to start asking questions.

Once a player has successfully guessed the other players card, they take the others card as a point, the first player to three points wins.

Deception


Deception is a card game for where players try to lie or tell the truth about other players cards.

Setup: remove all diamonds and clubs from a deck of cards(if playing with five or fewer players) Every player takes one card and holds it away from themselves so that only other players may see what it is.

Player Turn: On a players turn they may say one fact about one other persons card. The targeted player now needs to say if they were telling the truth or lying. If the target player was correct, they place the card they were holding face up in a score pile (each card acts as a point), and then they draw another card to hold face up. If the targeted player was wrong the player that told them the fact receives a point instead. Play continues on to the next player.

Multi-question: A player may also target multiple players with a single question, after a count of three, all players simultaneously give thumbs up, thumbs down, or if they are certain of the answer, withdraw their vote. (i.e. the question could be, there is at least one red card, and one player sees another player holding a red card, therefore they are certain it's true).

If there is either only one incorrect vote or all incorrect votes from players who did not withdraw, the asker gets a point. Everyone else who voted correctly also gets a point.

If all players were fooled, If there is are more than two fooled players, the asker gets an extra point, for each additional fooled player.

Example single questions: you are holding a red jack. Your card is black.

Example multi-questions: Both of your are holding red cards. One of you is holding a jack. There is exactly one red card between the three of you.

Questions can not involve the card you are holding.

Game end: play continues until one player reaches five points.

Properties: an induction game

Properties is a simple induction game in the same vain of Zendo and Eleusis. The main idea is that one player comes up with a secret property, for example: fuzzy, spherical, made of wood, can bounce, holds liquid, produces light, is man-made ect. Then comes up with an example that has the property and an example that does not.

The players can then ask at any time if either another object has the property or they can try to directly guess the property. If the guess is not correct the main player must give a counter example. The game continues until someone guesses the property or something close enough.

Here is an example play of the game:

Secret property: spherical

main player:
An orange has the property, but a bike does not

player 1:
Does a car have it

main player:
No

player 3:
Does a watermelon have it?

main player:
Yes

player 1:
I'm guessing that it is a fruit

main player:
No, because a banana doesn't have it

player 6:
Is it that it is edible?

main player:
No because a basket ball has it.

player 2:
Is the property that it is round?

main player:
Yeah! The property is that it's spherical!

The player who guessed the rule correctly now becomes the main player.

If a guess or example is ambiguous, the main player can clarify and say it's a bad example, irrelevant, doesn't really fit, or it depends on the type of example.

i.e. if the secret property is transparency, and the example is a cup, the main player could respond with, it depends on the type of cup (some are transparent some are not)

The beauty of this game is that it can be played anywhere (campfires anyone?) and is a ton of fun!
